How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. Rohn MVP. In the end, your simplest fastest fix may be to just use the recovery partition on the computer to completely re-install Windows and all of the factory crapware, which includes Starter. Sounds like the installation is making it partway. To start with you probably should do a full uninstall, to cleanup that broken install. Shut down the computer then try to install again. Use method 2 in this tip to do a full uninstall.
Using the Microsoftfixit tool seems to have removed Office Starter- it is not found in Control Panel Programs and Features or anyplace else. I can't try to reinstall it because there is nothing to install. I downloaded OfficeStarter. I installed Office from this executable file and it ran perfectly until early June. Than it experienced the Microsoft Office has encountered a problem with licensing and will need to close syndrome. I don't want to reinstall Windows. I did that last year and it was no fun reinstalling every program I use.
If that means I cannot have Microsoft Office then I will just have to accept that. Thanks for everybody's reply. In reply to beezoboar's post on August 5, It never was available for download. Check with your oem, only they can help. If I buy a DVD or download version of Office Home and Student do you all think it would install properly after all the gyrations I have been going through trying to reinstall Office Starter?
In reply to beezoboar's post on August 9, Starter works inside the CTR virtual computer. I tried this one also but got the same error as I was getting the same while installing trail version earlier. Just FYI I had already tried cleaning the registry files as i was suspecting that files may be lying in registry but every time I got the same error.
Error The product key you entered cannot be used on this machine. This is most likely due to previous Office trials being installed. The key you are currently trying to install with, is an Office Professional Plus Trial key. A machine will allow one Professional Plus Trial key installed on it ever. Meaning you can install a trial on a machine, used it for some time, uninstall Office.
When you go back to the Microsoft website and get a new key, the second installation will be rejected with the above error message. I never installed the Trail Version on my computer. I just explain you the entire story. I got Microsoft Starter from the manufacturer. When installation started, it asked me to 1st remove the Starter Version which I did. Since that I have neither been able to Install any trail version nor the Office on my machine. My intenet is fine. Any suggestions please? Hello, Thank you for posting in this thread.
